About Us

The BRICKS 4 KIDZ® model was founded by Michelle Cote in St. Augustine, Florida. Michelle initially started an after-school Spanish class in the spring of 2008, and then thought to herself, “My son loves to play with LEGO® – maybe I could lead a creative science LEGO® after-school workshop too”.  Michelle launched both the after-school Spanish class and the LEGO® workshop.  She had three children sign up for the Spanish class, but 35 children signed up for the LEGO® workshop!

Today BRICKS 4 KIDZ® has over 750 locations in 45 countries. BRICKS 4 KIDZ® is a Child Safe Child Friendly organisation and our number one priority in any activity is the safety of children under our supervision.  Our Child Safe Child Friendly policy is available here for download.

Who is the team in Logan City?

Tiara Lesslar

Tiara received her Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood) from QUT and taught at an independent school in Logan City for 3 years before relocating to Singapore in 2003. Here she worked as a kindergarten teacher at an international school for 13 years before returning to Australia to teach at the same school in Logan City.

A strong advocate for play based learning, Tiara believes the BRICKS 4 KIDS® programs deliver fun and creative ways in which children can review and consolidate the concepts taught in the classroom.

Tiara is a registered teacher with the Queensland College of Teachers, her Exemption Card number is 1668285/1 and she is First Aid qualified.

Lance Lesslar

While Lance served in the Armed Forces in Singapore he completed his Bachelor of Applied Science in Information Technology at RMIT. Leaving the Armed Forces at the end of 2006, Lance became a full time stay at home dad to the first of his 3 children. In 2012 Lance set up an online business selling baby related products, which he ran successfully until migrating to Logan City, Australia in 2016.

The combination of two of Lance’s favourite things – LEGO® and Star Wars® – is what attracted him to BRICKS 4 KIDZ® initially, but he is also a champion for the fun way in which children get to interact with their peers and develop life long learning skills in the process.

Lance’s Blue Card number is 1668238/1.

Rhys Jones

I am currently studying a Bachelor of Education (Primary) at The University of Southern Queensland. Prior to this I spent over 10 years working in the Auction industry, selling everything from paperclips to aeroplanes. In my younger years I competed internationally in Track and Field.

I believe that play based learning is fundamental in childrens’ development, and using LEGO is a great way to teach a variety of skills, such as problem solving and fine motor skills. I love being able to assist and watch the children develop and grow, exploring the world with their imagination.

Rhys’ Blue card number is 245116/3

Cathy Bridge

My name is Cathy and I received a Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood) from Queensland University of Technology. I taught Prep to Grade 2 in Brisbane and on the Gold Coast for 20 years. As an Early Childhood educator my personal philosophy was that children learn by interacting with their environment and peers through play.

LEGO provides opportunities for children to learn persistence and problem-solving skills as well as improving fine motor skills. I am always amazed how different children tackle problems in their own unique way when learning. It is great to see the children work independently or with a partner to complete the projects that form part of the many different experiences that Bricks4Kidz provides.

Cathy’s’ Blue card number is 2156317/1

Scott Richards

I am currently studying my Bachelor of Education (Primary) at The University of Southern Queensland.  I have over a decade of experience working in Early Childhood Education and am currently learning Auslan to increase inclusivity.

LEGO is a fantastic tool to explore understanding and build upon children’s inquisitive nature.  There are no limitations on the experience of learning and having fun. Seeing the different interpretations and creations that come out of the sessions demonstrates the fact we are all creative and unique individuals and sharing this with others assists us all to grow.

Scott’s Blue Card number is 278603/5
