Incursions – We come to you!

Bricks 4 Kidz® programs provide opportunities for children to:

  • awaken curiosity and inquiry
  • stimulate observation and exploration skills
  • enrich and enhance school curriculum
  • link the science concepts learned in school to the larger world

We tailor our programs to your curriculum and make them relevant to your current areas of study, with programs available for grades Prep through 8.  And the best part is – we come to you!!

A Bricks 4 Kidz® incursion takes learning out of the pages of the textbook and into an imaginative, 3-dimensional, hands-on learning experience!  Use the LEGO® bricks your students already know and love to get them excited about learning.  A fun-filled, engaging experience that kids will be talking about long after the fun and learning has ended.

A Bricks 4 Kidz® incursion will usually commence with an instructor-led class presentation and group discussion around the concept of the day.  We then use TECHNIC® LEGO bricks with motors, WeDo II Junior Robotics and EV3 Mindstorms Robotics to bring educational concepts to life, as students build a moving model exclusively designed by Bricks 4 Kidz®.

Robotics programs is where we shine, with many fun robot models to build all achieveable within class time, we provide endless challenges for easy assessment.  This allows students to extend themselves at  their individual pace.

– Junior Robotics  

  • combines WeDo2 “drag and drop” pictoral programming software with our own Bricks 4 Kidz® models for an introduction to computer programming for yr1 – 3.

– Advanced Robotics

  • we use EV3 Mindstorm technology and our Bricks 4 Kidz® model plans to compliment your classroom curriculum. Yr 4 – 8

We booked Bricks 4 Kidz at the end of the year to complement our problem solving unit in maths and our focus on cooperation for our grade 1/2 unit. Each class had a two hour session with Jo and the time flew. The children were very engaged and we were impressed with how well they followed instructions. They also had the opportunity to use their imagination to extend on activities such as adding to their merry go round. I have spoken to other classes at school and we are intending to book incursions for next year.

Our Junior Learning Hub at St James has been alive and buzzing with excitement this term as the students learned about science concepts through Lego. We incorporated the help of the Bricks 4 Kidz program and this has been hugely successful where the students had the opportunity to make items using Lego while learning about science.  This was a unique program that offered a series of weekly learning where students gained invaluable knowledge about gravity, push/pull, why seatbelts are important and how to work patiently with a partner.

One of the most important aspects of the program was that Bricks 4 Kidz brought everything with them that the students needed to make their items. This included a small tackle box full of the required Lego, motors, power-packs and a book of directions. The students were given their task as shopper (the person who collects the items needed) or the builder (the person who places the items together). This proved to be a very successful way of learning with each other and taking turns.

Over the course of 5 weeks, the students learned to work with a new partner, ask questions, share the role of shopper or builder, help when required or to sit and be patient to wait for their turn. The interpersonal skills improved over the course of time, and the deep thinking skills and creativity also increased with success.

The Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) were all covered during this program and the students were able to take the skills learned from their Lego session back to the classroom and apply their new knowledge. What a hugely successful program with Bricks 4 Kids and we at St James enjoyed the professionalism and organisation from the team.
